Farmer Advocacy Training

AC utilizes a layered approach to building FBOs capable of lobbying and advocating on behalf of their members. Groups are formed based upon the crop each cultivates and consisting of 10-15 members. These groups then join Inter-Group Associations which are also commodity based.

Inter-Group Association executives are elected by representatives of the member groups.

Networking is encouraged between and within the Inter Group Associations. Information is exchanged; activities are coordinated; and consensus building takes place.

The Inter-Group Associations are encouraged to use their strength in numbers to advocate and lobby on behalf of their member groups.

AC trains Inter-Group Association leaders to improve advocacy skills so that they can effectively lobby appropriate parties to address issues and challenges faced by farmers in their communities.
