Local Government Capacity Building & Financial Services

African Connections works closely with various districts to achieve district goals and objectives as outlined in district development plans. Our experts provide invaluable assistance by undertaking capability studies through site visits in collaboration with district planning officers. The collaboration includes, but is not limited to, assessing the viability of projects and writing business plans in support of viable projects or initiatives.

A significant aspect of our expertise involves facilitating and designing public private partnerships. The Ahafo Agribusiness Growth Initiative, "AAGI”, is an example of such a public private partnership. AAGI is an agricultural initiative that African Connections designed in partnership with Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, the Asutifi District Assembly, and local traditional authorities.

The stated purpose of AAGI is to enable farmers to become economically self-sufficient by identifying, growing, processing and marketing crops that have a domestic and international demand; and providing farmers with enhanced skills and training to meet market demands.

African Connections is implementing AAGI on behalf of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited. As a result of African Connections’ implementation, 3,500 farmers have been trained; and funds of over GH¢160,000 have been obtained from EDIF for the construction of a processing center to be located at Kenyasi 1, the capital of the Asutifi District.

African Connections also provides financial services to the districts by writing business plans supported by financial projections and economic forecasts, and identifying prospective investors for various business opportunities available in the districts.
