3rd Inter-District Forum

The Inter-District Forum and Exhibition is a Forum that provides a platform to facilitate the capacity building of MMDAs to understand various financial solutions available to them. It also assists them put in place internal structures (organizational, financial etc) that will serve as catalyst for collaboration with the private sector in a public-private partnership.

African Connections is organizing this year’s two-day Inter-District Forum in collaboration with the following:

  • Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment (MLGRD&E);
  • Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MFEP)
  • National Association of Local Authorities (NALAG)
  • Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS)
  • Ministry of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives (MOTI & PSI)
  • Municipal Finance Management Initiative Secretariat; and
  • Local Government Services

Key Objectives of the Event

  • Bring together various stakeholders to deliberate on innovative strategies to accelerate rural development towards middle income status;
  • Build the capacity of Ghana’s 170 MMDAs to utilize structured bonds to finance their capital projects;
  • Explore various strategies to accelerate rural development through Public-Private Partnership;
  • Explore the utilization of a wide variety of structured finance solutions for capital intensive projects in rural areas;
  • Provide opportunity for MMDAs to present their three (3) most viable investment projects in their area; and
  • Provide a platform for financial institutions to showcase their available services and products to MMDAs.

Highlights of the Events will include :

  • A key note address by the Minister of Finance;
  • Other major speakers such as the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Environment;
  • Practical workshops on various topics;
  • Workshops focusing on specific Districts highlighting the investment potentials of their districts.
